Busyness does not just affect our relationship with God; it can distort our judgment, strain relationships, and lead to self-inflicted wounds. Saul, Jephthah, and Peter all faced moments where busyness clouded clarity.

Learning together

A. Saul’s Rash Oath (1 Samuel 14:24–45): Saul made a harsh vow that nearly cost his son’s life. The army weakened due to poor leadership under pressure. Do not make decisions when your mind is clouded. Pause, pray, and seek counsel.

B. Jephthah’s Vow (Judges 11:30–35): In the excitement of victory, he made a vow that cost him dearly. Busy moments are dangerous. Think before you speak or commit.

C. Peter’s Misalignment (John 21:1–17; Matthew 16:18): Peter returned to fishing, forgetting his divine calling. Jesus redirected him back to purpose. Do not let busyness or familiarity pull you away from your God-given assignment.

Life’s busyness can lead to emotional decisions, broken relationships, and spiritual misalignment. Slow down. Listen to God. Surround yourself with truth-tellers. Your purpose is too precious to lose in the rush.
